"Not only is the Universe stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine."

-- Sir Arthur Eddington

Noted Engish Astronomer (1883 - 1944)

The Universe, in which we find ourselves residing, is an undeniably awe inspiring and amazing place:

From the smallest red dwarf stars, barely 10% the size of our Sun, that measure their lifetimes in trillions of years...

To our very own average-sized, middle-aged, life-sustaining yet spectacularly dynamic star - The Sun...

To the most massive, monster "blue super giant" stars in the Universe (such as Eta Carinae, depicted here by artist Lynette Cook) - those that output more energy in one second than our Sun does in an entire year and that burn their nuclear fule so rapidly that their lives are measured in millions of years instead of billions or trillions and...

Those that make our "average-sized" Sun look absolutely puny in comparison. In the illustration at right, the outer edge of a blue super giant star is shown on the left, while our Sun, shown to scale, is depicted on the right. And, if you really want to feel puny, consider that a million Earths could fit inside the little yellow dot that represents our Sun!...
